The Weight of Quiet

The Weight of Quiet

During our same visit to Yoho National Park and exploring Emerald Lake we came across a forested part of the trail that completely obstructed our view of the lake. Having a feeling that I'd be able to find a better angle down past the trees I began to descend down into the dense forest. Despite their reluctance, my friends followed me down. As we parted the last bit of brush, a breathtaking landscape emerged. Readying my camera I sat as low to the ground as I could without sitting completely in the water to capture this moment. An imposing mountain overlooking its own emerald reflection, using the driftwood to add a layer of scale and depth to the photograph. Needless to say, they all agreed that it was worth the brief bushwhacking detour. We sat and enjoyed the calm sound of nothing, feeling the weight of the moment and it's breathtaking view.
