During our time on the West coast of Maui, we spent one day exploring the Ahihi-Kanau Natural Area Reserve. Here we traversed over landscapes created by Haleakala's youngest lava flow, exploring countless small coves and beaches. The beaches all had lots of drift wood piled on the shore as well as many trees with lanky limbs reaching out towards the ocean. I found this tree particularly unique. When I walked past, the limbs were perfectly outstretched towards the horizon creating an interesting feeling of depth and curvature to the frame. I climbed up onto the lower portion of the stump to better align myself with the middle of the outstretched branches and captured this moment. Land locked trees, reaching out towards the endless horizon.
